| The Rat terrier has a wonderful temperment. They are Lively, without being hyper, smart with out being crafty, obedient with out being willful. They are good watch dogs, yet are not usually excessive yappers, they like to run and play, but the breed seems to have a sense of territory so they tend not to roam far from home. They are easy to control and to teach, they generally get along with other dogs and with other animals if trained to do so. As in every breed there are always individual exceptions, yet that does not disprove the general tendency of the Rat Terrier to be an easy-going sort of dog. |

| There is a saying: " Rat terriers love kids, and kids love rat terriers." No matter what age child you have there is a rat terrier pup suited for them. Toy Ratters are truely suited for younger children, they are small and usually loving companions to kids. Boy pups and boys seem to buddy up, and Girl pups and girls seem to gravitate. The pups and the children have it all figured out. |

| Rat Terriers are so loyal and eager to please they make great companions, and are fine ratters and small game hunters.. |
| The standard rat terrers and larger mini's are suited to an outdoor country-style life, and the small mini's, toys and tiny toys are perfect for city life and make excellent house or apartment dogs. |
